NewsTeam I’s visit to Murrayfield IV

November 27, 2022by Booking Team

Below is the scorecard for Team I’s visit to Murrayfield IV on Wednesday. Both Teams would have regarded the fixture as winnable and so the hosts fielded their strongest team and brought in League President Lindsay Muir (Ratings Central score 1122) for his first League outing of the season and omitting the talented but sometimes inconsistent Leandro Golinski (954). On the scorecard we can see that it was a tough night for Babu, but we can forgive him because he had played really well in the Handicap Cup the previous week, winning his three including looping effectively against great defensive work by Geoff Hunter of North Merchiston I, and then two days later beating Geoff again, this time in the League. So maybe Babu was feeling tired. Marek played soundly to register wins over the established Premier Division performer Junji Hua and the youngster Hadyn Jackson, but the star of our team was Brian Wright, the former Scotland International who is on loan to us from West Lothian and who won his three on debut! Great stuff. Brian and Marek combined to win the doubles in four. The home player of the match was Lindsay, with two wins on his debut. Overall a notable win for Team 1, though in truth all Team 1’s wins are notable, because they are not expected to win every week! So with that win, and the loss for Team 4 on Monday and a loss and a win for Teams 2 and 4 at home on Wednesday, as a club we were 50% wins this week, just as we were in the Handicap Cup last week!
